"Think Assimilation"
I have no particular interest in (or objection to) Mac computers, but with today's announcement that Apple will be using Intel Pentiums in their computers starting in 2006 (IBM apparently couldn't deliver the PowerPC chips Apple required) is too good of an opportunity to pass up.
The wailing and gnashing of teeth from the Mac users who bemoan Intel (and by extension, Microsoft) is just asking for schadenfreude, so I'm happy to take my shots with the rest of 'em.

I can't speak for OTHERS, merely for myself. I don't bash Intel chips, but I'll certainly bash "commodity Intel-based hardware"... half the crap that people are using these days, the "Cheapest possible vendor out of somewhere in southeast asia" level of quality sucks fetid moose balls, and anyone who's run a computer repair shop will tell you that.
An intel-based Mac, with either "limited compatability" (e.g., "here is the list of hardware we support. Go off this list at your own peril."), or Apple-branded Intel Hardware, are the ways to go. Any other way lies the madness of having to figure out which particular P.O.S. adapter is f**king up this other completely unrelated subsystem (as happens with the crap hardware, been there, seen that).

Remember that most people bash PCs in their entirely, not the chip manufacturer. It's the difference between two paradigms -- quality control and standards vs. throw anything together and sell it. It's the latter mentality that some of the rational Mac zealots attack -- not the chip.
If you still have quality Mac computers with quality parts, and the only difference is the chip, few people are going to care.
